Trestle Studio proudly launched The Hotel Chalet in October 2023, a new boutique lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Downtown Chattanooga at The Chattanooga Choo Choo. We are building a team of motivated leaders who are enthusiastic about creating a unique space where culture, elevated service standards, and authentic hospitality are paramount.

The property, formerly operated as The Choo Choo Hotel, features 127 guest rooms, including 25 within restored vintage train carriages, an original bar and restaurant concept with parlor, patio, and courtyard service, a 3,000 SF ballroom, a fitness center, and an alpine pool. Emphasizing the rich history of the hotel and surrounding area, and the opportunities for adventure in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, The Hotel Chalet welcomes travelers seeking adventure, timeless style, and intrinsic comfort.

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for leading the Housekeeping team to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness across all interior and exterior facilities of the hotel, including sanitization, deep cleaning, and waste removal. The role involves creating and implementing standard operating procedures, managing operating and labor costs within budget, and ensuring accountability, guest satisfaction, and safety compliance. The Director will also oversee staff training on safety protocols to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Principle duties include:

1. Lead and manage the Housekeeping Department to ensure service standards are met and guest expectations are exceeded.
2. Oversee hotel laundry operations, including maintenance, cleaning, inventory, and procurement of linens and bedding.
3. Assist in developing the departmental budget annually.
4. Manage weekly departmental budget and payroll.
5. Coordinate with other departments to address guest concerns promptly and ensure high service quality.
6. Maintain inventory pars.
7. Ensure staff are current with mandatory training programs.
8. Monitor employee performance, providing training, supervision, evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
9. Implement emergency procedures in collaboration with senior leadership to safeguard guests, staff, and assets.
10. Innovate housekeeping processes, utilizing technology and on-site resources to maximize efficiency and productivity.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Working knowledge of:

• Rooms division operations, including PMS systems, credit assignment, and guest ticketing.
• Commercial laundry facilities.
• Pool facility operations related to housekeeping.
• Safe handling of chemicals and cleaning supplies.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Knowledge of relevant processes and systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous leadership experience in housekeeping, preferably in full-service or boutique hotels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and focus on guest needs.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to handle objects.
• Ability to perform fast-paced movements across the property.
• Lift, carry, or pull at least 20 pounds.
• Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing.
• Perform activities involving lifting, cleaning, and stooping.
• Stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods.
• Access all areas of the property on varied terrain.
