Job description

Build a World-Class Global Supply Chain. Develop Great People. Shape the Future.

At Spellman High Voltage Electronics, we design and manufacture highly engineered high-voltage power supplies, X-ray generators, and related technologies that enable some of the world's most demanding applications. Our products support critical innovations across medical, industrial, scientific, and security markets, where precision, reliability, and performance are essential.

We're looking for a Director of Global Planning who sees complexity as an opportunity, believes great processes enable great people, and knows how to bring clarity and consistency to a sophisticated global manufacturing organization.

This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit a mature supply chain and maintain the status quo. You'll have the opportunity to fundamentally improve how we plan, source, coordinate, and deliver across our international operations. You'll begin by rolling up your sleeves, strengthening processes, aligning teams, improving visibility, and helping lead a major ERP transformation. As the organization gains momentum, your role will increasingly shift toward executive-level strategy, global optimization, and long-term operational excellence.

You’ll lead a worldwide organization of approximately 100 people, working across cultures, facilities, and time zones. We're looking for a leader who can navigate the challenges of a vertically integrated, high-mix, low-volume electronics manufacturing environment without losing sight of what matters most: delivering results, building trust, and helping people succeed.

If you're equally comfortable solving a difficult material shortage, challenging a planning assumption with data, mentoring an emerging leader, and discussing global supply chain strategy with executives, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

Why You Are Going to Love This Job
  • You'll make a visible, lasting impact. This is a genuine transformation opportunity. You'll have the authority and responsibility to evaluate what works, rebuild what doesn't, and establish the processes, systems, and organizational capabilities that will support Spellman's future growth.
  • You'll own the entire global supply chain picture. Rather than optimizing one isolated function, you'll connect planning, procurement, inventory, materials management, supplier performance, and execution into a coordinated global operation.
  • You'll help shape a major technology transformation. You'll play a central role in selecting and implementing a replacement for GLOVIA, helping establish the ERP and supply chain infrastructure needed for better decisions, stronger execution, and greater transparency.
  • You'll work in an intellectually challenging manufacturing environment. Spellman's combination of sophisticated electronics, vertical integration, complex bills of materials, specialized components, and high-mix, low-volume production creates the kind of challenges that accomplished supply chain leaders find energizing.
  • You'll have a leadership team that values thoughtful, fact-based decisions. Your executive leader appreciates people who remain calm under pressure, speak candidly, challenge assumptions constructively, and use data rather than emotion or hierarchy to guide decisions.
  • You'll develop leaders, not just manage an organization. With approximately 100 people in your global organization, you'll have the opportunity to build capabilities, coach future leaders, and create an environment where people feel supported, challenged, and empowered.
  • You'll have a truly international role. You'll build relationships across multiple locations and cultures, bringing together diverse teams around shared goals while respecting the differences that make each operation unique.
  • You'll grow from transformation leader to strategic partner. Your early work will focus heavily on stabilizing and improving execution. As the supply chain matures, you'll spend more time influencing executive decisions, developing global strategies, and positioning Spellman for the future.
  • You'll have flexibility in where you live. Our Long Island, New York headquarters is the preferred location, but we're open to exceptional candidates based elsewhere, including Mexico, who can effectively lead our global operations.
What We Need You to Do
  • Take ownership of our end-to-end global supply chain. Lead and integrate the processes, people, systems, and performance across planning, procurement, materials management, inventory, supplier coordination, and supply chain execution.
  • Assess, stabilize, and transform existing operations. Quickly develop an understanding of how materials, information, and decisions flow through our worldwide manufacturing operations. Identify bottlenecks, inconsistencies, and risks, then implement practical improvements that deliver measurable results.
  • Lead the evolution of our ERP capabilities. Partner with operations, finance, IT, and other stakeholders to evaluate and select a replacement for GLOVIA, define requirements, redesign critical workflows, and support a disciplined implementation that delivers real operational value.
  • Establish world-class master planning capabilities. Strengthen master production scheduling, material requirements planning, demand and supply alignment, capacity planning, and inventory strategies suited to a vertically integrated, high-mix, low-volume electronics manufacturing business.
  • Build a connected global operating model. Create consistent processes, shared performance expectations, and effective communication across geographically dispersed manufacturing and supply chain teams, while allowing for necessary local differences.
  • Use data to drive better decisions. Develop meaningful metrics and operating reviews that improve visibility into inventory, shortages, supplier delivery, production readiness, schedule adherence, working capital, and overall supply chain performance.
  • Embed lean principles into everyday operations. Eliminate waste, improve material flow, reduce unnecessary complexity, and create sustainable processes that make the organization more responsive and efficient.
  • Strengthen supplier and materials performance. Improve sourcing coordination, supplier accountability, material availability, and risk management, especially for specialized electronics components and other critical materials.
  • Lead and develop approximately 100 global team members. Build an encouraging, accountable, high-performing organization by coaching managers, developing talent, clarifying responsibilities, and creating opportunities for people to grow.
  • Drive complex initiatives with discipline. Use structured project management, including Microsoft Project, to establish priorities, manage interdependencies, communicate milestones, and keep large-scale improvement efforts on track.
  • Partner across functions and cultures. Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, finance, IT, and commercial leaders to ensure supply chain decisions support broader business priorities.
  • Become a trusted executive advisor. Translate operational insights into strategic recommendations about organizational capabilities, systems investments, global capacity, supply chain resilience, and long-term growth.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Deep experience in electronics manufacturing. You understand the realities of complex electronic assemblies, component availability, engineering changes, intricate bills of materials, and the coordination required to keep sophisticated manufacturing operations running.
  • Success in high-mix, low-volume, vertically integrated environments. You've managed supply chains where traditional high-volume manufacturing approaches don't always apply, and you know how to balance flexibility, inventory, capacity, and delivery performance.
  • Strong master planning expertise. You bring hands-on command of master production scheduling, MRP, capacity planning, inventory management, and the relationships between planning accuracy and manufacturing execution.
  • Experience improving or transforming ERP systems. You've participated in or led major ERP selections, implementations, or transformations, and understand that successful systems projects depend as much on process design, data quality, and user adoption as on technology.
  • Global supply chain leadership experience. You've led people, processes, and performance across multiple countries, manufacturing locations, and cultures, ideally in a complex international electronics organization.
  • A proven ability to rebuild and refine processes. You know how to diagnose operational problems, prioritize improvements, create sustainable standards, and bring an organization from reactive firefighting to predictable execution.
  • Quantitative and analytical strength. You're comfortable working with complex operational data, identifying patterns, testing assumptions, and turning analysis into practical decisions.
  • A working command of lean manufacturing. You understand continuous improvement as a management philosophy, not just a collection of tools, and have applied it to meaningful operational challenges.
  • Strong project management skills. You're comfortable using Microsoft Project to manage complex initiatives, dependencies, resources, and timelines.
  • A calm, candid, and collaborative leadership style. You communicate directly, remain composed when things get difficult, and can address challenging issues without creating unnecessary conflict.
  • A genuine talent for developing people. You see leadership as helping others succeed. You set clear expectations, offer meaningful support, coach constructively, and create an environment where people take ownership of results.
  • Curiosity and intellectual flexibility. You ask thoughtful questions, seek to understand root causes, welcome different perspectives, and are willing to change your mind when the evidence points in a better direction.
  • Cross-cultural effectiveness. You can build credibility and productive relationships with people whose backgrounds, working styles, and perspectives differ from your own.
  • The ability to operate at both tactical and strategic levels. You can dig into a planning problem or supplier issue one day and confidently present a global supply chain strategy to senior executives the next.
The Opportunity at a Glance
  • Location: Hauppauge, Long Island, NY preferred; flexible globally, including Mexico
  • Travel: Approximately 2–3 weeks per month initially, decreasing as operations stabilize
  • Leadership scope: Approximately 100 team members worldwide
  • Primary mandate: Global supply chain transformation, ERP modernization, operational excellence, and talent development
The Kind of Leader Who Will Thrive Here

The most successful person in this role won't be the loudest voice in the room or the executive who believes every answer must come from the top.

You'll be someone who earns respect through competence, curiosity, consistency, and a willingness to help. You'll know when to ask questions, when to dig into the details, when to make a difficult decision, and when to step aside so your team can succeed.

You'll bring the confidence to challenge existing practices without dismissing the people who built them. You'll be direct without being abrasive, analytical without losing your humanity, and ambitious about results without needing personal credit.

Most importantly, you'll understand that a truly great global supply chain isn't built by one exceptional leader. It's built by developing an exceptional team, giving them the right systems and processes, and creating an environment where they can do their best work.

That's the kind of leadership we're looking for at Spellman.
