Salary range: AAMC salary benchmarks for Anatomic Pathology range from $341,273 to $419,064. Membership in the Health Sciences compensation plan is included, providing eligibility for additional compensation.

Position Description

The University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a full‑time mid‑career/senior faculty member to serve as Director of GI Pathology. The appointment may be at Associate or Full Professor rank in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on experience and research effort. Incumbents in the HS series provide patient care, teach fellows, residents, and medical students, perform public and university service, and contribute to scholarly activities. Incumbents in the Clinical X series conduct substantial research in addition to the duties described above; excellent teaching is an essential criterion.

Responsibilities include clinical services in GI/liver and pancreas pathology, frozen section on‑call duty, service on departmental and hospital committees, and teaching and mentoring of junior faculty, medical students, residents, and fellows. The role will support the laboratory needs of UCI Health.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

  • Fellowship training and extensive experience in GI pathology
  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree
  • Board‑certified in Anatomic Pathology
  • Eligible for a California medical license
