About The Role

Exodigo is seeking a Director of Geotechnical Engineering to lead U.S. geotechnical engineering standards, quality, and technical credibility. This senior role combines engineering leadership with customer engagement, helping infrastructure owners, contractors, and engineering consultants understand and trust Exodigo’s subsurface intelligence technology.

The ideal candidate is an experienced geotechnical engineer with strong industry relationships and expertise in complex civil infrastructure, particularly tunnels, bridges, and transportation projects. You will partner with Sales as a technical advisor while working across Product, R&D, Operations, and Project Management to translate engineering needs into product requirements and ensure reliable, defensible deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build industry trust: Represent Exodigo’s geotechnical expertise with infrastructure owners, DOTs, contractors, and engineering consultants; communicate the technology’s value, accuracy, and limitations.
  • Support customers and Sales: Lead technical discussions, presentations, and proposals, addressing engineering challenges and demonstrating real-world applications.
  • Own technical standards and quality: Translate customer requirements and industry standards into engineering specifications, acceptance criteria, QA processes, and consistent delivery practices.
  • Provide engineering oversight: Review geotechnical deliverables and serve as the responsible engineering sign-off authority.
  • Connect engineering and product: Partner with Product and R&D to align customer needs with product capabilities and development priorities.
  • Improve project delivery: Work with U.S. Project Management, Operations, and CAD/BIM teams to standardize workflows and maintain consistent quality nationwide.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical specialization; M.S. strongly preferred.
  • 10–15 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience in U.S. civil infrastructure and/or construction.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to obtain additional licensure as needed.
  • Demonstrated track record authoring formal engineering requirement documents (PRDs, design basis documents, technical specifications) and translating market needs into user stories / acceptance criteria.
  • Deep working knowledge of DOT (AASHTO, FHWA, state DOT) and ASCE standards; strong familiarity with ASTM and USACE geotechnical practice.
  • Solid understanding of engineering and geotechnical formats, including common solutions, methodologies, and industry work practices
  • Basic technological understanding of current tools and approaches used in engineering and geotechnical fields
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze geological, geotechnical, and civil engineering reports
  • Substantial client-facing experience: scoping, presenting, negotiating technical approaches with owners, DOTs, and contractors; acting as voice of the customer internally.
  • Experience leading delivery organizations that include field operators, OPS, QA, and CAD/BIM/infrastructure engineers.
  • Hands-on experience running agile/structured delivery using tools such as Monday, Jira, Slack, and Gantt-based planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in drafting documents, proposals, and strategic plans, with meticulous attention to detail to ensure clarity, accuracy, and effective coordination of all requirements and applications
  • Proven collaboration with business functions on strategy, pricing, and marketing in a technical B2B context.
  • U.S. work authorization; willingness to travel domestically to project sites (estimated 25–40%).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading delivery for productized geotechnical solutions (instrumentation, monitoring, sensing, specialty foundations, ground improvement, etc.).
  • Prior role as a technical/delivery lead on major DOT or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Active participation in ASCE Geo-Institute, TRB committees, or DFI technical committees.
  • Experience working in a growth-stage company environment with cross-functional business exposure.
