Summary
The Director of Fundraising is a senior leadership role responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating fundraising strategies to meet or exceed the organization’s financial goals. This individual will lead and manage all aspects of fundraising efforts, including donor relations, major gifts, annual campaigns, grant writing, and event planning. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations and will possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills. The ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities is imperative. The Director of Fundraising must be able to complete tasks by set deadlines, to handle a wide variety of activities, and confidential matters with discretion.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet the organization’s financial goals.
- Identify and prioritize funding needs, short- and long-term fundraising goals.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and board members to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Steward major donors, ensuring that they are regularly updated on the impact of their gifts.
- Coordinate donor recognition programs and develop opportunities for donor engagement.
- Work with Director of Operations and Communications to plan and execute fundraising campaigns (e.g., capital campaigns, annual giving campaigns).
- Manage the development of campaign materials and communication strategies to attract and retain donors.
- Oversee the progress of campaigns, ensuring that goals are met and provide regular reports on campaign success.
- Identify and research new grant opportunities.
- Write grant proposals and manage the application process.
- Track and report on grant-funded programs to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Maintain accurate donor records and management of donor database.
- Prepare regular reports for the executive team, board, and key stakeholders on fundraising progress, revenue, and trends.
- Analyze fundraising results to inform future strategies and improvements.
- Develop and manage fundraising budgets.
- Monitor fundraising expenses and ensure that resources are used efficiently to maximize fundraising outcomes.
- Oversee fundraising events, including annual DFOB Classic golf tournament, Sip & Savor and Trivia Night.
- Work with team members to ensure the success of fundraising events.
- Collaborate with Director of Operations and Communications to ensure that fundraising messages are aligned with the organization’s overall communication strategy.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization in the community and with potential donors.
