Job description

BASIS ED is a rapidly growing company and is always looking for qualified employees.
We seek highly motivated, talented candidates to join our staff and offer a competitive benefits package to our employees.

BASIS Ed is seeking a Director of Fundraising located at Scottsdale office!

BASIS Ed is seeking a Director of Fundraising to oversee the Annual Teacher Fund, the organization’s annual giving program supporting teacher excellence across the network. This role is responsible for managing the Annual Teacher Fund campaign calendar, campaign strategy, donor stewardship, school-based coordinator support, and day-to-day execution of annual giving initiatives.

The Director of Fundraising works under the direction of the VP of Development, who leads major donor strategy, philanthropy, institutional giving, and founding donations for school growth. While the VP of Development focuses on larger philanthropic relationships and long-term fundraising strategy, the Director of Fundraising owns the operational success of the Annual Teacher Fund and ensures that family giving campaigns are well-planned, well-executed, and consistently supported across schools.

This role is ideal for a highly organized fundraising professional who can manage campaign details, motivate school-based coordinators, support donor engagement, coordinate with Marketing and Communications, and use data to improve participation, stewardship, and fundraising results.

Key Responsibilities

Annual Teacher Fund Strategy & Campaign Management

  • Manage the Annual Teacher Fund campaign calendar, including annual giving, recurring giving, Giving Tuesday, teacher appreciation, donor stewardship, school-level giving moments, and donor appreciation activities.
  • Develop campaign plans, timelines, goals, messaging needs, donor segments, coordinator tasks, and reporting checkpoints.
  • Translate Annual Teacher Fund goals into clear campaign strategies that increase family participation, donor retention, recurring giving, and total revenue.
  • Coordinate campaign execution across email, school communications, donor outreach, events, printed materials, giving pages, and stewardship touchpoints.
  • Work with the VP of Development to align Annual Teacher Fund strategy with broader development priorities.
  • Monitor campaign progress and recommend adjustments based on donor behavior, school participation, campaign performance, and giving trends.
  • Ensure Annual Teacher Fund messaging clearly communicates the impact of giving on teacher recruitment, retention, recognition, and school excellence.

School-Based ATF Coordinator Management

  • Serve as the primary manager and support partner for school-based Annual Teacher Fund coordinators.
  • Onboard new coordinators.
  • Provide coordinators with campaign calendars, toolkits, templates, talking points, timelines, donor outreach guidance, and stewardship expectations.
  • Lead regular coordinator meetings, trainings, check-ins, and campaign briefings.
  • Ensure coordinators understand campaign goals, school-level responsibilities, donor communication expectations, and reporting requirements.
  • Support coordinators in planning school-level engagement activities, donor appreciation efforts, and family giving reminders.
  • Troubleshoot school-level challenges, clarify priorities, and escalated issues when needed.
  • Track coordinator activity, school participation, local campaign execution, and follow-up needs.
  • Build a consistent coordinator support model that helps schools participate effectively while maintaining central fundraising standards.

Donor Stewardship & Engagement

  • Manage stewardship workflows for Annual Teacher Fund donors, including thank-you communications, impact updates, donor recognition, appreciation touchpoints, and post-campaign follow-up.
  • Support donor segmentation for first-time donors, returning donors, recurring donors, lapsed donors, upgraded donors, and school-level donors.
  • Help personalize donor communications based on school affiliation, giving history, donor level, and campaign participation.
  • Coordinate donor appreciation activities that help families and supporters understand the impact of their giving.
  • Partner with school leaders and coordinators to collect teacher stories, school highlights, photos, and examples of Annual Teacher Fund impact.
  • Support recurring giving growth through targeted messaging, stewardship, and donor follow-up.
  • Identify donors who may be appropriate for VP of Development follow-up, including major donor prospects, corporate supporters, or families with increased giving potential.

Cross-Functional Campaign Coordination

  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to produce Annual Teacher Fund campaign materials, including emails, landing pages, donation page copy, flyers, social content, direct mail, event materials, and donor stewardship content.
  • Submit clear creative requests and manage deadlines, approvals, edits, and campaign production timelines.
  • Coordinate with Finance and operations teams on gift coding, reconciliation needs, donor acknowledgments, reporting, and school-level fundraising requirements.
  • Work with data/platform partners to support accurate donor lists, donation forms, campaign tracking, and recurring giving setup.
  • Maintain strong communication with school leaders, ATF coordinators, MarCom, Finance, and the VP of Development.
  • Ensure campaigns are executed consistently across schools while allowing for appropriate local school voice and community engagement.

Data, Reporting & Platform Support

  • Use Salesforce, Click & Pledge, or other fundraising and CRM platforms to support donor segmentation, campaign execution, donor follow-up, and performance reporting.
  • Track Annual Teacher Fund revenue, donor participation, school participation, recurring giving, donor retention, average gift size, and campaign performance.
  • Prepare regular campaign updates, school-level reports, coordinator progress summaries, and post-campaign performance reports.
  • Identify data gaps, duplicate records, missing donor information, or reporting issues that may affect campaign execution or stewardship.
  • Support donor data quality by ensuring campaign activity, donor engagement, and school-level giving information are accurately captured.
  • Use reporting insights to recommend improvements to campaign timing, messaging, coordinator support, donor stewardship, and recurring giving strategy.

Qualifications
