Job summary

Alila Ventana Big Sur, part of the Hyatt Hotels family, seeks a Taskforce Director of Food & Beverage. The role leads multiple outlets, partners with culinary and resort teams, and drives service excellence across a Forbes/Michelin-recognized property.

The position is temporary, full-time, with assignment length of 30–60 days. Salary ranges from $130,000 to $145,000 annually, prorated for the duration, with onsite housing, travel expenses, and meals provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in food and beverage leadership, preferably within a luxury resort or fine dining setting.
• Proven ability to lead multi-outlet operations and manage high-performing teams.
• Strong financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and labor cost management.
• Deep understanding of luxury service standards; Forbes/Michelin experience preferred.
• Certifications in Food Safety and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of all food and beverage outlets, including the signature restaurant, bar, in-room dining, and special events.
• Support outlet managers and supervisors in executing consistently exceptional service aligned with luxury hospitality standards.
• Partner with the culinary team to develop seasonal menus, beverage programs, and experiences that align with guest expectations and brand values.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and licensing requirements.

Position Overview
The Task Force Director of Food & Beverage plays a critical role in the leadership and execution of our resort’s food and beverage operations. Reporting to the Resort Manager, this role oversees multiple outlets and ensures operational consistency, financial performance, and exceptional guest service across the resort.

This ocean-view restaurant brings together rustic elegance, modern technique, and locally sourced ingredients to create cuisine that feels both familiar and deeply inspired by place.
  • SurStream: Set amongst a grove of ancient redwood trees, this custom-designed mini Airstream offers hand-made pizzas and salads, cocktails, beer, wine and gelato to nourish your weekend adventure.
  • In Room Dining: offers seasonal California coastal cuisine delivered right to your suite throughout the day, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even late-night options included as part of the all-inclusive experience. It lets you enjoy the resort’s locally inspired menus in the privacy and comfort of your room.
  • Pool: poolside dining lets you enjoy seasonal, California-inspired lunch and beverage service right by the water with items from the resort’s menu available throughout the day.

This leader collaborates across departments, drives service excellence, and plays an active role in maintaining the standards required of a Forbes-rated and Michelin-recognized property.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Partner closely with the culinary team to develop seasonal menus, beverage programs, and experiences that align with guest expectations and brand values
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and licensing requirements

Guest Experience & Engagement

• Maintain a strong presence in outlets during peak service times, engaging with guests to personalize experiences and resolve concerns proactively
• Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, and survey results to identify areas of opportunity and implement meaningful improvements
• Work with resort leadership and marketing to align offerings with guest demographics, seasonal trends, and resort initiatives

Assignment Details & Compensation

• Role: Taskforce Director of Food & Beverage (Temporary, Full-Time)
• Assignment Length: a minimum of 30 to 60 days
• Salary Range: $130,000-145,000 annually (prorated for the duration of the taskforce assignment).
• Benefits: Onsite housing, travel expenses, and all meals are provided for the duration of the assignment.

Physical Requirements
