Job description

Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Location: Spokane, WA or Seattle, WA

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

About the Organization

A growing, private equity-backed healthcare services organization is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to help strengthen its financial infrastructure and support its next phase of growth.

The organization operates a multi-location, service-oriented business with a combination of recurring contractual revenue, operationally intensive service delivery, and capital investment requirements. With continued organic growth and an active acquisition strategy, the business is focused on integrating operations, improving financial visibility, and building the infrastructure needed to scale.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative leadership team and make a meaningful impact on a growing healthcare platform.

The Opportunity

The Director of FP&A will report directly to the CFO and take ownership of building and advancing the organization's financial planning, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.

As the first dedicated FP&A leader, this individual will play a critical role in establishing financial processes, improving reporting, and connecting operational performance to financial results.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance professional who enjoys building from the ground up, solving complex business problems, and partnering with operational leadership to drive better decisions.

This is a highly visible opportunity with direct exposure to executive leadership, investors, and strategic initiatives, including acquisitions and operational expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
  • Build, refine, and maintain integrated financial models across multiple business units and service lines.
  • Develop meaningful financial reporting, variance analysis, and performance insights for executive leadership and investors.
  • Translate financial results into actionable recommendations that improve profitability, efficiency, and growth.
  • Partner with operational leaders to connect business activity, revenue, labor productivity, and resource utilization to financial performance.
  • Develop unit economics and profitability models to evaluate performance across locations, service lines, and operating assets.
  • Analyze pricing, contract profitability, revenue drivers, and volume trends to support strategic decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.

Capital Investment & Strategic Analysis

  • Develop capital expenditure, investment return, and payback models to support equipment and infrastructure decisions.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities using financial and operational performance metrics.
  • Support business cases for expansion, resource deployment, and strategic initiatives.
  • Improve financial reporting processes, data consistency, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Partner with accounting and operational teams to integrate financial and operational information from multiple systems.
  • Establish scalable reporting frameworks, dashboards, and key performance indicators.
  • Support the financial integration of acquired businesses, including standardized reporting and performance measurement.

Executive & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders to provide financial insights that inform business decisions.
  • Prepare financial presentations and analysis for executive leadership, board meetings, and investors.
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner who can communicate complex information clearly to both financial and nonfinancial stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, ideally with current experience at the Manager, Senior Manager, or Director level.
  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience connecting operational metrics to financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of unit economics, pricing analysis, revenue drivers, and profitability.
  • Experience developing capital investment, ROI, or payback analyses.
  • Background in a multi-location, asset-intensive, or operationally complex services business.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and the ability to work with financial and operational data across multiple systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within healthcare services, business services, or another operationally intensive industry.
  • Exposure to private equity-backed or acquisition-driven organizations.
  • Experience integrating financial reporting across multiple business units or acquired businesses.
  • Familiarity with contract-based revenue models, pricing structures, and resource utilization analysis.
  • Experience building or improving FP&A capabilities in a growing organization.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will bring a combination of strong technical FP&A expertise, business acumen, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

This individual should be:

  • A Builder: Enjoys creating financial models, reporting processes, and analytical frameworks rather than simply maintaining existing systems.
  • Operationally Minded: Understands how business operations drive financial outcomes and can turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Intellectually Curious: Asks thoughtful questions, digs into the details, and enjoys learning new business models.
  • Collaborative: Builds strong relationships with operational and financial stakeholders.
  • Accountable: Takes ownership of results, follows through on commitments, and maintains high standards.
  • Growth-Oriented: Thrives in a changing environment and is motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as an organization scales.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Build the FP&A Function: Take ownership of developing the financial planning and analytical infrastructure for a growing organization.
  • Executive Visibility: Work directly with the CFO and senior leadership on important financial and strategic decisions.
  • Private Equity-Backed Growth: Gain exposure to an acquisitive healthcare services platform with ambitious expansion objectives.
  • Meaningful Business Impact: Influence pricing, profitability, operational efficiency, capital allocation, and investment decisions.
  • Professional Growth: Join at a stage where continued organizational expansion could create opportunities for broader leadership responsibilities.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work with a team that values accountability, integrity, service, and continuous improvement.
