Job description

Help shape where a 125+ year old Northwest mutual goes next as Mutual of Enumclaw's Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.

Since 1898, MOE has protected the lives and livelihoods of Northwest homeowners, families, farmers, and business owners. Today, we’re building on that stable foundation and exploring new ways to grow revenue and profit beyond traditional insurance underwriting. As our Director of FP&A, you’ll report directly to the Holding Company CFO and play a central role in that strategy, from annual planning to Board-level presentations to evaluating new ventures.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Lead all FP&A activities, including annual forecasting, business plan development, and long-range planning
  • Lead and coach a team of two financial analysts, with room to grow the team as the business expands
  • Own monthly financial and operational reviews, including variance analysis, and sharpen them to surface the metrics and drivers that matter most
  • Turn financial results and investment recommendations into clear, decision-ready materials for executives and the Board of Directors
  • Model new revenue and profit opportunities, including ventures, partnerships, and acquisitions
  • Evaluate strategic investments with business cases, NPV, IRR, and scenario modeling, and support M&A due diligence
  • Support the AM Best annual review and Investment Management and Reinsurance strategy
  • Modernize FP&A tools and processes, including planning systems, automated reporting, and AI-enabled workflows
  • Partner with Product Management, Actuarial, HR, Claims, and IT on strategic initiatives
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5-10 years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience, including 2+ years leading people
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field; an MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus
  • Strong command of financial statements, plus familiarity with GAAP and statutory (SAP) accounting
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling skills; experience with Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, or Power BI is a plus
  • The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
  • Comfort using AI tools like Claude or Copilot to work faster and automate processes
  • Experience collaborating with onshore and offshore teams across time zones
  • A continuous-learning mindset and the flexibility to shift priorities as the business evolves
  • P&C insurance or financial services experience is strongly preferred
