Job summary

RevOptimal is seeking a Director of Financial Operations to lead accounting, reporting, payroll, and FP&A. This hands-on role reports to the COO and serves as the senior finance leader with potential to build a team as the business scales.

The role encompasses full-cycle accounting, month-end close, revenue operations, cash management, and compliance. You will own the financial model, dashboards, and board materials while collaborating with external tax and audit partners.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• Five to eight years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including director-level experience.
• Working knowledge of revenue-share structures, usage-based billing, multi-party flow-through revenue, and platform-driven payment timing.
• Strong command of GAAP revenue recognition (ASC 606) as applied to usage-based, revenue-share, and pass-through arrangements.
• Demonstrated FP&A capability with a driver-based financial model.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle accounting including AP, AR, GL, journal entries, accruals, and deferrals.
• Run month-end close and deliver P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance commentary.
• Design and document internal controls and close processes (close checklist, revenue recognition policy, expense policy).
• Administer revenue operations: validate platform usage reports, calculate partner revenue shares, and follow up on delinquent reporting.
• Produce customer and partner invoices, manage AR aging and collections, apply GAAP revenue recognition.
• Review, approve, and process vendor and partner payments; manage cash and working capital.
• Own the financial model, budget-to-actuals reporting, scenario planning, unit economics, and rev-share margin analysis by partner/platform.
• Prepare monthly leadership reporting package and board-ready financial materials.
• Coordinate with external tax and audit advisors; manage tax and regulatory compliance.

The role:

RevOptimal is seeking a Director of Financial Operations to lead our accounting and FP&A functions. The Director of Financial Operations will report to the Chief Operating Officer and serve as the company's senior finance leader and sole point of accountability for accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and FP&A. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with the opportunity to build and lead a team as the business scales.

What you'll do:

Accounting & month-end close

• Own full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and deferrals.
• Run a month-end close and deliver a timely P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and variance commentary.
• Design and document internal controls and repeatable processes, including the close checklist, revenue recognition policy, and expense policy.

Revenue operations & billing

• Administer revenue operations: validate monthly platform usage reports, calculate and reconcile partner revenue shares under multiple contractual structures, and follow up on delinquent reporting.
• Produce customer and partner invoices through the company's billing and CRM systems, and manage AR aging and collections.
• Apply GAAP revenue recognition to usage-based, revenue-share, and pass-through arrangements.

Accounts payable, receivable, & cash management

• Review, approve, and process vendor and partner payments in accordance with contracted terms.
• Manage cash and working capital across staggered platform and partner payment cycles with varying net terms.
• Own vendor onboarding and the AR cadence.
• Own the company financial model, budget-to-actuals reporting, scenario planning, unit economics, and rev-share margin analysis by partner and platform.
• Prepare the monthly leadership reporting package and board-ready financial materials.

Compliance & advisory coordination

• Manage tax and regulatory compliance, including sales and use tax, 1099 filings, state registrations, and audit preparation.
• Coordinate with external tax and audit advisors.

Required Qualifications:

• Active CPA license.
• Five to eight years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including a minimum of two years as a Director of Finance/Financial Operations, Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager.
• Direct experience at an AdTech, MarTech, Tech/Data, SaaS, or online marketplace company, with a working knowledge of revenue-share structures, usage-based billing, multi-party flow-through revenue, and platform-driven payment timing.
• Strong command of GAAP revenue recognition (ASC 606) as applied to usage-based, revenue-share, and pass-through arrangements.
• Demonstrated FP&A capability, including the ability to build and maintain a driver-based financial model.
• Experience with Quickbooks and financial system integrations.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, and working experience with a general ledger system, CRM, and AP automation tools.
• Extremely strong attention to detail paired with sound commercial judgment.
• Ability to operate independently and own the Finance and Accounting function end-to-end.

Preferred / nice-to-have

• Experience with modern ERP, AP, and procurement platforms.
• SQL proficiency or experience partnering with data and engineering teams on revenue data pipelines.
• Experience supporting institutional fundraising, M&A due diligence, or a financial audit.
