Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Director of Financial Accounting to oversee general ledger integrity and timely financial reporting for HM entities. You will lead a skilled team, optimize processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and external audits.

Responsibilities include governance of the monthly/annual close, internal controls, and interaction with HM's Finance Committee and external firms. CPA, 5+ years in healthcare accounting with leadership experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in public accounting or healthcare industry accounting, with at least two years in a people management role
• CPA - Certified Public Accountant license is required by Texas authorities

Responsibilities

• Directs department staff to achieve quality, productivity, and cost efficiency goals
• Oversees staffing, development, and performance evaluations
• Ensures accurate monthly closings and reconciliations of general ledger accounts
• Maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and prepares audits
• Coordinates internal and external financial reporting for HM entities
