Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the financial health of the organization.
• Oversee the preparation of all financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring that all financial targets are realistic, achievable, and aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
• Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors, and assess any changes necessary.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
• Advise on long-term business and financial planning, and provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
• Maintain knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial management.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position within the government sector.
• A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and a strong understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
• Proven experience in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Strong experience in audits, compliance, and financial reporting.
• Exceptional leadership abilities, with a proven track record of managing a finance team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a strategic and analytical mindset.
• Proficiency in using financial software and advanced MS Excel skills.
