Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency in Bridgeton, NJ seeks a Director of Finance to lead the Finance Department’s daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure timely, accurate reporting.

You will partner with the CFO and Controller on budgeting, policy, and audits, drive GAAP-compliant processes, and support grant accounting and forecasting in a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Five (5) years of progressive accounting/fiscal experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and Uniform Guidance; nonprofit or government-funded environment experience preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting information systems and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervises day-to-day operations of the Finance Department staff; assigns work, monitors deadlines, and resolves daily problems.
• Provides ongoing training and professional development to accounting and fiscal staff.
• Gives final review and approval to grant reports, grant budgets, and grant closeouts.
• Prepares grant reports, grant budgets, and grant closeouts in accordance with GAAP, Government Auditing Standards, and Uniform Guidance.
• Monitors program and grant spending against approved budgets; flags variances and supports corrective planning.
• Coordinates the annual budget process and financial forecasts in partnership with the CFO and Director of Finance; analyzes and reports budget variances.
• Supports month-end and year-end close processes, including recurring journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Furnishes internal management reports; develops and refines reporting tools to improve efficiency and usefulness.
• Coordinates tracking and reporting of non-federal share/match across applicable programs.
• Serves as the point of escalation for day-to-day fiscal operations questions from program staff.
• Supports the CFO and Controller with special projects, ad hoc analyses, and audit preparation as needed.

Job Details: Job Location: R E Campus S07 - Bridgeton, NJ, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 4 Year Degree, Salary Range: $120000.00 - $125000.00Salary/year, Travel Percentage: Up to 25%, JOB FUNCTION: The Director of Finance serves as the Finance Department's operational leader, responsible for day-to-day fiscal operations, staff supervision, and department-wide reporting. The Director of Finance ensures accounting and fiscal staff meet deadlines and quality standards, supports budget development and monitoring, and works closely with the CFO and Controller to carry out financial policy in daily practice.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Other responsibilities include ensuring organizational policy is carried out and complied with, assisting other departments in forecasting personnel and financial needs, accelerating cash receipts, and supporting the evaluation and implementation of accounting information systems. May serve as operational point of contact for the Finance Department in the CFO's absence.
