Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing finance and accounting professionals.
  • Experience within wealth management, asset management, financial services, or RIA organizations strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or corporate development initiatives preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Director of Finance to join our Corporate Finance Team based in Massachusetts, in any of our New England offices. This addition to our team will serve as a key business partner to the COO/CFO and CEO and ensure operational excellence across all aspects of corporate finance, including financial operations, reporting, planning, budgeting, and analysis. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) business model and will leverage that expertise to support FLP's continual growth and success.

The Director of Finance will be responsible for managing the Corporate Finance Team to coordinate strategic growth efforts and financial integrity to meaningfully contribute to a growing and dynamic firm. The Director of Finance will be responsible for the following duties:

Strategic Finance & Corporate Development
  • Partner with the CEO, CFO/COO and CAIO on mergers, acquisitions, and strategic growth opportunities.
  • Assist with financial due diligence, valuation analysis, integration planning, and post-transaction reporting.
  • Support executive leadership with financial analyses related to new initiatives, market expansion, and business optimization.
  • Provide scenario analysis and modeling to evaluate strategic alternatives and business risks.
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Direct the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all accounting and financial reporting activities.
  • Oversee general ledger operations, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) for executive leadership.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop financial models supporting organizational planning, staffing, investments, and growth initiatives.
  • Analyze profitability by office, business line, client segment, and strategic initiative.
  • Support capital allocation decisions and long-range strategic planning.
Treasury & Cash Management
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
  • Monitor banking, borrowing, and investment relationships.
  • Ensure efficient management of working capital and operating cash needs.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize cash utilization and financial performance.
Compliance, Internal Controls & Risk Management
  • Maintain strong internal financial controls and accounting policies.
  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Compliance, Operations, and Human Resources to mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Develop and document scalable financial processes and procedures.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance and accounting team.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability measures.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and client service.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process enhancement.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Support special projects and business initiatives as assigned by the CFO/COO.
  • Stay current on industry trends, economic developments, and best practices affecting the financial services industry.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
  • MBA, CPA, or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing finance and accounting professionals.
