Director of Field Operations | Data Center Development | Central Texas
Overview
A leading and fast-growing data center owner and developer is seeking a Director of Field Operations to take senior ownership of field-level construction delivery across their growing portfolio. This is a high-impact, hands‑on leadership role for an experienced field executive equally comfortable on a complex hyperscale construction site as they are in a strategic leadership conversation
Compensation
- Base salary up to $300,000
- 20-30% annual performance bonus; sign-on bonus

- Vehicle allowance up to $1,200/month
- 50% remote / 50% travel to active project sites in Austin, TX
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the owner's senior field authority across all active data center and infrastructure construction programs — conducting regular site visits to assess GC performance, field execution quality, schedule adherence, and safety compliance
- Hold GCs, construction managers, and trade partners fully accountable to the owner's field execution standards — identifying underperformance early, escalating issues, and driving corrective action through to resolution
- Review and challenge GC look-ahead schedules and master programs — identifying critical path risks, validating milestone claims, and ensuring field execution aligns with the approved project schedule
- Attend and lead OAC meetings, daily coordination sessions, subcontractor briefings, and safety reviews — representing the owner's position with authority and ensuring field issues are resolved promptly
- Enforce quality standards across all field construction activity — reviewing work against contract documents and owner requirements; issuing non-conformance notices and tracking deficiency resolution through to closeout
- Lead and enforce site safety standards across all active sites — maintaining a zero-incident safety culture across the portfolio
- Coordinate with MEP subcontractors, commissioning agents, and equipment vendors during startup, energization, and commissioning — ensuring all systems are ready for operational handover on schedule
- Oversee field-level change order validation and OFCI equipment delivery coordination across active sites
- Maintain clear and timely field reporting — producing daily site observation reports, photographic documentation, issue logs, and milestone tracking for senior leadership
- Support VP of Operations with field-level intelligence on project performance, emerging risks, and contractor capability assessments
Requirements
- Minimum 12-18 years of construction experience with significant tenure as a General Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or Director of Field Operations on large-scale mission-critical programs
- Hyperscale data center experience is mandatory
- Deep understanding of civil, structural, and MEP disciplines
- Owner's representative or owner-side experience preferred — strong GC Superintendents with a track record of close owner engagement will be considered
- Proven ability to hold GCs and delivery partners accountable without direct line management authority
- Comfortable with 50% travel — based in or willing to relocate/travel to Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred — equivalent field experience considered
