Job Title: Director of Events and Business Development

Summary of Position

Talent Studio is an enterprise of Indiana Wesleyan University's National & Global division. It serves as a concierge workforce partner for the AI era, functioning as a fractional Learning & Development partner for businesses, associations, and workforce organizations. All learning is university-backed and can stack toward accredited IWU degrees.

This role keeps the sales engine for IWU Enterprises and Talent Studio running and puts the brand in front of the right rooms. It owns the operational side of business development: planning and staffing events, managing the CRM, running outreach, and moving prospects from first contact through to a discovery conversation. The work is hands‑on and fast‑paced. You will spend your days planning and overseeing events, building pipeline, and representing Talent Studio to business and association partners, making sure no opportunity falls through a crack.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate internal enterprise event logistics, strategic outcomes, live‑event management, and post‑event evaluations. Coordinate closely with Enterprise Learning and the Creative function to align outreach with the offerings being promoted
  • Plan and execute Talent Studio's presence at conferences, association meetings, partner events, and hosted experiences, from logistics and materials through follow‑up. Attend events as a representative of Talent Studio. Build relationships, capture leads, and carry conversations forward
  • Own the CRM environment (currently HubSpot, potentially moving to Salesforce): pipeline management, data hygiene, contact records, workflows, and reporting. Run outbound and inbound communication. Build and send email campaigns, manage responses, and keep follow‑up in a timely and personal manner
  • Conduct and support discovery calls and early sales conversations, handing off warm, qualified opportunities to the Enterprise Partnerships team. Help support social media platforms and online event campaigns. Track and report on pipeline health, event performance, and conversion so the team can see what is working

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in sales operations, events, business development, or a related field
Experience
  • Experience coordinating internal and external event logistics, strategic outcomes, live‑event management, and post‑event evaluations
  • Experience serving as organizational representative at conferences, association meetings, partner events, hosted experiences, and in one‑on‑one sales conversations
Required Skills
  • Working proficiency with a CRM platform
  • Demonstrated experience managing events end to end
  • Comfort with relationship‑based B2B selling and a genuine interest in talking with prospective partners
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to set and reset priorities in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with detail‑driven projects and events
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to travel to events as needed
