Job summary

Ritual is hiring a Director of Engineering to own the Shopify platform that runs ritual.com. This leadership role oversees catalog, subscriptions, and the app stack, aligning with product, marketing, operations, and finance to keep the system coherent at scale.

You will lead in-house engineering and QA, review PRs, and guide a team using AI-native development practices with Cursor and Linear. This role reports to the Engineering leadership and shapes the technical roadmap.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading Shopify platform ownership.
• Fluent with Shopify APIs, webhooks, and custom apps.
• Strong agile and delivery leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own the Shopify platform end to end including catalog and checkout.
• Lead subscription commerce through Recharge.
• Build and maintain critical integrations with ERP, fulfillment, finance.
• Coach and grow the engineering and QA team.
• Collaborate with product, marketing, and finance stakeholders.
• Champion WCAG accessibility and AI-native development practices.
