Job summary

SkyWater Technology in Austin, TX seeks a Director of Engineering to lead process engineering, development, and yield optimization across our fab. You will align technology roadmaps with corporate goals and drive multi-disciplinary teams to deliver scalable solutions.

The role requires deep semiconductor manufacturing expertise, hands-on leadership, and strong collaboration with operations, IT, and quality assurance to ensure performance, reliability, and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field required or equivalent experience.
• 12-15+ years in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.
• 5-7+ years in senior engineering management.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering vision and multi-year roadmaps aligned with growth and profitability.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineering managers and ICs.
• Own metrics across fab modules and optimize OEE.
• Enforce SPC, Lean and Six Sigma to reduce defects.
• Collaborate with TD to transfer new process nodes to production.
• Own qualification of new process windows and metrology requirements.
• Manage CapEx and OpEx budgets for tool expansions and projects.
• Maintain relationships with major equipment vendors and manage contracts.
• Ensure EH&S compliance and data integrity across MES.
