Job summary

LaMotte Company is seeking a Director of Engineering to provide strategic direction and leadership for the Newark, DE and Chestertown, MD facilities. You will own the Operational Excellence program and lead capital investments, automation, and continuous improvement to support growth while improving safety, quality, and productivity.

You will develop engineering talent, standardize practices, and collaborate with R&D, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, EHS, and Finance to deliver measurable,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible manufacturing engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams and major capital projects; multi-site leadership preferred.
• Lean, Six Sigma, engineering, or project management certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a 3–5 year engineering, capacity, and technology roadmap aligned with business strategy and manufacturing requirements.
• Direct engineering activities across Newark and Chestertown, balancing resources and project priorities; maintain a presence at both sites.
• Own LaMotte's Operational Excellence program across both facilities; define framework, standards, and measurement; drive annual improvement goals.
• Lead CapEx planning and manage portfolio across both sites; build business cases, justify investments, and oversee projects from design to handover.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce bottlenecks, downtime, scrap, and costs; sponsor Kaizen events and apply Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and TPM principles.
