Trust In SODA in San Francisco is seeking a Director of Engineering to define the next major evolution of an FDA-cleared neurotechnology platform. You will own end-to-end technical vision and lead the engineers building it.

This role emphasizes deep technical leadership over people management, architecture, data flows, and collaboration with leadership to shape product and technical decisions. Within 90 days, you’ll learn the system, define the MVP, and create the engineering plan, while

Qualifications

• Experience building or architecting complex, interconnected software systems.
• Strong cloud engineering knowledge across AWS, containers and Kubernetes.
• Technical leadership experience while remaining close to engineering decisions.
• Ability to understand complex systems quickly and explain technical trade-offs.
• Experience with Python, Linux and distributed or elastic compute systems.
• Exposure to regulated healthcare, medical devices or scientific data processing.
• Experience evolving a complex product into a modular, extensible architecture.

Responsibilities

• Build an end to end understanding of the existing technology and data flows.
• Define the architecture for the next generation of the product.
• Turn technical vision into a clear, executable engineering roadmap.
• Lead an initial team of around five engineers.
• Stay technically close to architecture, infrastructure and engineering decisions.
• Partner with senior leadership on major product and technical choices.
• Communicate technical decisions to universities, customers and external technology teams.
