Qualifications

• Experience building or architecting complex, interconnected software systems.
• Strong cloud engineering knowledge across AWS, containers and Kubernetes.
• Technical leadership experience while remaining close to engineering decisions.
• Ability to understand complex systems quickly and explain technical trade-offs.
• Experience with Python, Linux and distributed or elastic compute systems.
• Exposure to regulated healthcare, medical devices or scientific data processing.
• Experience evolving a complex product into a modular, extensible architecture.

$275,000 base + equity | San Francisco | Predominantly onsite

SODA has partnered with a neurotechnology company building software that maps and modifies functional networks in the human brain. They’re now looking for a Director of Engineering to define the next major evolution of an FDA-cleared technology.

This isn’t a Director role centred on meetings and people management. You’ll understand the technology end to end, shape its next architecture and lead the engineers building it.

The Opportunity

The existing system combines brain imaging, cloud processing, elastic compute and physical medical devices. Your challenge is turning that foundation into a modular architecture capable of supporting multiple clinical applications.

Within your first 90 days, you’ll learn the system, define the first MVP and create the engineering plan.
