Role Description

The Director of Engineering & IT is a full-time, on-site role based in Central, VA. This position oversees engineering and information technology teams, providing strategic direction and hands‑on leadership for systems, infrastructure, and production‑related initiatives. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include managing engineering projects, aligning IT systems with manufacturing needs, coordinating cross‑functional integration efforts, and ensuring that development activities support operational goals. The director will mentor team members, establish performance metrics, optimize workflows, and drive the adoption of best practices in engineering, software, and IT governance. The role also includes budget management, vendor oversight, risk mitigation, and collaboration with senior leadership on long‑term technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Strong Engineering Management experience, including leading multidisciplinary technical teams and overseeing complex manufacturing‑related initiatives.
• Proven Team Leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and retain engineering and IT professionals in a dynamic environment.
• Hands‑on background in Software Development, with familiarity in modern development practices, system architecture, and industrial or manufacturing applications.
• Demonstrated Project Management capabilities, including planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and delivering projects on time and within scope.
• Experience with Integration of engineering and IT systems, such as ERP, MES, automation, and data platforms within a manufacturing context.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial standards, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is beneficial.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across operations, finance, and leadership teams.
• Proven ability to operate on‑site in a production environment, balancing strategic planning with hands‑on problem solving.
