Job summary

Pipe is seeking a hands-on engineering leader in the United States to own the health, scalability and reliability of Pipe's systems end to end, from partner APIs and SDKs to money movement and credit underwriting infrastructure.

You will lead about 10 engineers through two squad leads, set technical standards, and drive the roadmap in collaboration with Product, Risk, Data Science, Capital Markets and Finance. This remote-first role emphasizes incident response, monitoring and high-quality code.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in software engineering with leadership of teams.
• 2+ years leading a team of 5+ engineers.
• Hands-on operator who debugs production issues and fixes tech debt.
• Experience owning business-critical infrastructure and reliability.
• Proven ability to scale engineering teams in early-stage/high-growth startups.
• Hands-on: reviews code, debugs production issues and makes architectural calls.
• Familiarity with payments, money movement, or regulated financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Own health, scalability and reliability of Pipe's systems end to end, including APIs, money movement and underwriting infrastructure.
• Lead about 10 engineers through two squad leads; set the technical bar and unblock people.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Data Science, Capital Markets and Finance to align infra with business needs.
• Represent engineering in partner technical conversations (APIs and SDK integrations).
• Build monitoring, alerting and on‑call practices to catch issues early.
• Improve code review, deployment and testing to raise velocity while maintaining quality.
