Job summary

HYPR, the Identity Assurance Company, seeks a Director of Engineering in New York City. This hybrid role reports to the CTO and leads the end-to-end software lifecycle, driving architecture, AI-enabled practices, quality, and platform health at scale.

You will establish standards, foster accountability, and partner with Product, Security, and Operations to deliver secure, high-quality releases for HYPR's identity platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience including leadership of managers.
• Proven track record building and scaling engineering organizations within SaaS, enterprise software, cybersecurity, identity, or authentication platforms.
• Strong technical background in software architecture, cloud-native apps, AWS, APIs, and modern AI-enabled software delivery practices.
• Experience leading end-to-end software development organizations, including architecture, development, quality engineering, test automation, and release management.
• Demonstrated success improving software quality, release predictability, engineering productivity, and overall technical health.
• Experience establishing engineering governance, quality frameworks, technical standards, and scalable practices across multiple teams.
• Excellent written communication, decision-making, and leadership with clear direction within teams/leads.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering organization through hiring, coaching, succession planning, and skills development.
• Define and govern the technical architecture, engineering standards, and development practices for scalable software.
• Drive HYPR's adoption of AI-enabled software development practices to improve productivity, quality, speed, and effectiveness.
• Oversee successful execution of the AI software development lifecycle aligned to product objectives.
• Establish engineering ownership of quality through automation-first testing and defined release standards.
• Oversee development of HYPR platform services, APIs, SDKs, and product-owned integrations.
• Drive improvements in tooling, environments, and engineering best practices to boost productivity.
• Own the overall technical health including debt management and code quality.
• Partner with Product, Security, Platform Operations, Presales, and Customer Success to deliver value.
