Prometheus Group is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the EH&S product line. This hands-on leader runs delivery and writes code when needed, working directly with developers and customers on calls to ensure outcomes.

You will own end-to-end delivery, maintain quality and schedule, and translate technical work into commercial terms for non-technical stakeholders while guiding a growing team in a cloud-based environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a player-coach engineering leadership role.
• 2+ years managing a team of 15+.
• Experience integrating with ERP and document systems.
• Willing to write and review code as needed.
• Strong commercial awareness and customer focus.
• Experience deploying to the cloud for customers.

About the Role

We are hiring a Director of Engineering to lead our EH&S (Environment, Health & Safety) product line. This is a player-coach role: you run delivery and you do the work. You will lead a team building web applications that asset-intensive operators depend on for safety and compliance, stay hands-on with the code, join customers on calls with your developers, and keep engineering commercially honest. This is not a manage-from-above seat.

What You'll Do

• Lead the EH&S engineering team as a true player-coach, staying hands-on with the code and the delivery.
• Own end-to-end delivery for the EH&S product line: quality, schedule, and customer outcomes.
• Join customer calls alongside your developers and live the customer experience firsthand.
• Bridge engineering to non-technical stakeholders across the business, translating technical work into commercial terms.
• Step into the trenches when the situation calls for it: pick up a ticket, review code, unblock the team.
• Own integrations with customer-owned systems such as document systems and ERPs.
• Keep the team commercially grounded and aware of budget, timeline, and business impact.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in a player-coach engineering leadership role.
• 2+ years managing a team of 15 or more.
• Hands-on experience integrating with customer-owned systems (ERPs, document systems, and similar).
• Willing and able to write and review code yourself when the team needs it.
• Strong commercial awareness. You build for outcomes, not for its own sake.
• A track record of cross-functional work with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience deploying to the cloud and to customers.
• Computer Science degree preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience. We value people who got here by doing.

Tech You'll Work With

• Frontend: React.
• Cloud: deployed to the cloud and orchestrated with Kubernetes, our standard web app stack.

Nice to Have

• TypeScript and .NET.
• Experience across a broader enterprise web application stack.
• Experience with cloud-native, containerized delivery at scale.
• Comfort spending roughly a quarter of your time partnering with stakeholders outside of engineering.
• Experience as the front person bridging technology to the business.
