Job description

Join our high-growth team as the Engineering Director and lead Moonshot’s engineering team in the design, manufacture, and delivery of large-scale electrical distribution systems that power data centers, energy infrastructure, and advanced technology facilities. This role combines technical excellence with people leadership to ensure quality, safety, and speed in every project. Reporting to senior leadership, the Engineering Manager will balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution; driving projects from design through shipping while fostering a high-performing engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define, plan, and deliver engineering projects on time, within scope and budget.
  • Lead the design of UL-compliant electrical panels, switchboards, and control systems.
  • Allocate engineering resources across multiple concurrent projects for maximum efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship, feedback, and career development for engineers and designers.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, quality, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
  • Enforce compliance with UL standards, NEC codes, and internal quality standards.
  • Monitor performance metrics; project delivery, budget adherence, and design quality and implement process improvements.
  • Identify and address project risks to ensure safety and reliability in all deliverables.
  • Foster and promote a company culture that actively encourages continuous innovation, collaborative teamwork among employees, and a strong sense of accountability and responsibility at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience with a focus on electrical panel design or distribution systems, seen as a plus. Experience in data center, industrial, or modular construction environments is also a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams and complex projects from concept to a fully documented commercial product.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, UL 891, 508A and 67 compliance, and NEC code preferred.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (Solidworks and Solidworks Electrical) and MS products (Excel).
  • Experience using Product Data Management (PDM) and/or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or PMP certification preferred.
