About SocialRx
SocialRx (dba Art Pharmacy) works with healthcare, education, and workforce management partners to address the dual mental health and loneliness crises through social prescribing — a new model of care that connects people to non-clinical services that improve their health and well-being. We partner with health plans, employers, and public agencies to help people access arts, culture, nature, and other community-based services that drive value for our business partners and the people they serve.
We are a small, growing team backed by early stage venture investors. We are currently serving customers in AZ, CA, CT, GA, MA, NC and NY. We have immediate plans to expand to 2 additional markets in 2025.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a Director of Engineering to lead our product engineering efforts during a critical phase of growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will partner closely with our Head of Product to evolve and maintain our core platform, which powers care navigation, community referrals, and member engagement across our social prescribing ecosystem. You will also supervise contracted resources and agency partners to help scale the product for new geographies and partners.
This role is ideal for someone who loves to balance strategy and execution (50/50) — setting direction while staying close to the code. You will define engineering practices, enforce HIPAA-compliant data handling, and shape a secure, resilient architecture. You’ll also be instrumental in hiring and mentoring future engineering team members.
We’re seeking a Senior Engineering Leader who thrives in early-stage environments and can bring engineering discipline, team leadership, and delivery excellence to our product stack.
You’ll serve as the technical leader for the company and as a mentor and manager, collaborating with the Head of Product while introducing engineering best practices and systems that enable velocity. You’ll help define architecture, manage timelines, and ensure our platform remains reliable, secure, and scalable as we grow.
What You'll Do
What We're Looking For
Support & Collaboration Structures
While the Director of Engineering reports directly to the CEO, you will be supported by a strong Head of Product and a network of experienced technical advisors (including Bryan Dennstedt at TechCXO). This advisory structure provides ongoing mentorship and collaboration opportunities to deepen your impact and support your growth.
Remote Work Expectations
This is a fully remote role with the expectation of working primarily within east coast U.S. business hours. We emphasize collaboration and transparency — key meetings are synchronous, but the day-to-day workflow allows for flexibility. You’ll need to be proactive with communication in a distributed environment and available for internal meetings regularly. Company leadership convenings twice annually in Atlanta, GA for one week.
Our Current & Future Tech Stack
We are in the process of modernizing our platform. Candidates should either have experience with or be open to working with the following:
We value adaptable engineers who can work across technologies as we scale and modernize.
