Job summary

Lawrence University’s Career Center seeks a Director of Employer Connections to lead employer engagement and recruiting efforts for students and recent graduates. You will build partnerships with employers, alumni, and campus partners, and oversee programs such as career fairs, interviews, and career treks to connect students with organizations and career pathways.

The role requires 2+ years of program management experience, strong relationship-building, and the ability to travel for events;

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience of relevant program management, event management, strategic planning, and/or public relations experience; or the equivalent.
• Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state to attend career fairs, conferences, networking events, student career exploration trips, and employer site visits, with flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
• This is both a student-facing and employer/alumni-facing position and requires an on-site presence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a proactive employer engagement strategy to expand opportunities for Lawrence students and recent graduates.
• Build and deepen relationships with employers, alumni, and partners, serving as a primary contact for recruitment or engagement.
• Advise employer partners on recruiting and student engagement strategies, and share labor-market trends with Career Center colleagues.
• Represent Lawrence and the Career Center at employer visits, networking events, career fairs, conferences, and external engagements.
• Lead the Career Center's employer recruiting program, including career fairs, events, interviews, and class presentations.
• Develop opportunities for employers and alumni to contribute to career exploration and readiness programming.
• Collaborate to deliver workshops and programs that strengthen career readiness and engagement.
• Identify internship opportunities through employer/alumni relationships and coordinate with colleagues responsible for internship development.
• Support Lawrence-funded internship initiatives by identifying and engaging prospective employer partners.
• Oversee Handshake activity, including approvals, quality standards, and communications with recruiting partners.
• Collaborate on internship approvals and supervise student staff supporting opportunity review.
• Manage CareerShift and other recruiting technologies to expand student access and track engagement.
• Contribute to targeted communications promoting opportunities and maintain employer-facing resources and policies.
• Maintain records of employer relationships and use data to improve programs.
• Provide career guidance to students and alumni and participate in cross-campus initiatives.
• Participate in professional associations and represent the Career Center externally.
• Meet with students and alumni to provide guidance on job-search strategies, résumés, and applications.
