We are seeking expressions of interest for a Director of Electrical Engineering, modeled on an executive-level technical role with a high-growth national data center developer expanding its power and electrical infrastructure capabilities at scale. The business develops multi-megawatt and gigawatt hyperscale data center campuses across key U.S. markets, and is at a stage of growth where high-voltage utility power integration, advanced UPS topologies, and power distribution architecture are core drivers of portfolio value and deployment velocity.
What the Director of Electrical Engineering would do:
- Set Electrical Strategy: Lead the national electrical engineering vision, establishing standardized basis of design (BOD) frameworks across MV/HV utility interconnection, substations, and power distribution systems.
- Technical Oversight: Serve as the primary subject matter expert on power topologies, static/rotary UPS setups, emergency backup generators, and EPMS architectures to support high-density workloads.
- Manage Engineering Partners: Direct external electrical engineering firms and consultants from schematic design through Issued for Construction (IFC) package sign-off.
- OFCI & Equipment Strategy: Partner with procurement to evaluate, select, and conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for major long-lead electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, UPS).
- Drive Commissioning: Oversee L1-L5 electrical commissioning workflows, integrated systems testing (IST), and energization sequences across active campus builds.
Who You Are
- 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering leadership on the owner, developer, or lead consultant side of multi-megawatt data centre programs.
- Deep technical command of MV/HV distribution, fault current calculations, selectivity studies, and power redundancy topologies (N+1, 2N, block redundant).
- Mastery of relevant codes and standards including NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and Uptime Tier III/IV electrical guidelines (Active PE license strongly preferred).
- Proven track record of managing internal technical teams and leading tier-one external MEP engineering consultants.
- Executive communication skills to present complex technical power concepts to hyperscale clients and developer leadership.
