Director of Electrical Engineering

Position: Full time (Remote)

Location: South Carolina

Metric Geo is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader to join our Solar/Battery Practice—an exciting and rapidly evolving sector. In this key role, you will help drive the development of innovative projects that shape the future of advanced industrial facilities for some of the world’s top companies. Collaborating closely with clients, engineering teams, and industry professionals, you will ensure our projects not only meet but exceed industry standards. If you are passionate about cutting-edge technology, your expertise will be instrumental in delivering designs that are innovative, compliant, and of the highest quality.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Serve as the Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for battery and solar manufacturing projects, ensuring a high level of technical quality and innovation. Make independent decisions to address engineering challenges, apply advanced practices, and develop creative design solutions. Prepare technical studies and specifications to support project planning and execution.
  • Client Engagement: Offer expert consulting services for battery and solar manufacturing initiatives. Represent the firm in meetings and industry events, contributing to strategic discussions and helping align project approaches with client goals.
  • Technical Project Leadership: Lead the planning, design, and coordination of medium to large-scale engineering projects or portfolios of complex initiatives. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and project/program managers to drive successful outcomes. Oversee and perform independent design reviews and quality assurance tasks, upholding the highest technical standards. Manage quality processes within the discipline, including evaluations and technical recommendations.
  • Team Development: Mentor, coach, and support the growth of junior and mid-level engineering staff.
  • Travel: Travel will be required to support project and client needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from accredited university program
  • PE (Professional Engineer’s) License with the ability to become registered in additional states.
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design of complex industrial projects. Experience in battery / solar manufacturing projects is required.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of the electrical requirements per NFPA 70, 70E, 72, 101, 110, building codes, energy codes, and other related standards such as IEEE and ASHRAE standards
  • Proven track record in client relationship management.
  • Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese speakers a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid passport for occasional project-related international travel.
