Job description

Our client actively engages in a wide range of industries and commercial ventures, providing innovative, integrated business solutions to clients worldwide through a global network. As the Director of Project Development, you will oversee the company's portfolio of solar projects by coordinating and reviewing the work of various development functions, consultants, and other team members who are part of a remote, distributed workforce. To accomplish the project and business goal, this role will collaborate closely with the interconnectivity, permitting, real estate, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work with the VP on the company’s overall strategy and development efforts in the Midwest or East Region.
  2. Oversee the processes for zoning, environmental protection, permitting, entitlements for land use, and compliance.
  3. Identify, oversee, and lead collaboration partners and outside consultants.
  4. Create workable, economically sound new and ongoing solar projects.
  5. Establish a target scope of work and monitor project progress to ensure it is on time and on budget.
  6. Supervise the development of solar energy projects from the feasibility stage through the start of construction.
  7. Stay up to date on U.S. renewable energy opportunities as well as national industry trends that may have an impact on future solar and renewable energy development opportunities and their competitiveness.
Required and Desired Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree is necessary.
  2. Experience with project development for at least 8-10 years, preferably in the solar, renewable energy, or real estate.
  3. Experience with team building and leadership.
  4. Skilled in project management with the ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and prioritize critical path tasks.
  5. Strong project management background with the capacity to spot potential project defects, address them, and determine the tasks that should be prioritized on the critical path.
  6. Knowledge of market trends for renewable energy sources and how they affect the development of solar projects.
  7. Capability to manage many priorities concurrently and flourish in rapidly changing environments.
  8. Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers and be able to use Word and PowerPoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
