University of Nevada, Reno seeks a Director of Development, Planned Giving to lead identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of planned gifts $25,000+. Reporting to the Director of Planned Giving, the DODPG will advise donors and staff and manage a portfolio across colleges and units.

The role requires strong relationship-building, strategic planning, and fundraising expertise, with travel and regular evening/weekend commitments as needed for donor engagement and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related professional work experience OR Master’s/Professional Degree (JD, CPA, CFP) and two (2) years of related professional work experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors.
• Advise donors, faculty, and Advancement staff on planned and deferred giving opportunities.
• Prepare gift-related agreements and documentation; support donor stewardship and solicitation strategies.
• Assist with training of Advancement staff on planned giving and related processes.
• Support the Nevada Legacy Society, Planned Giving Advisory Council, and related marketing/ stewardship efforts; ensure reporting and compliance.

Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a Director of Development, Planned Giving (DODPG) to lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors, with a focus on planned gifts of $25,000 or greater. Reporting to and collaborating with the Director of Planned Giving, the DODPG will advise donors, faculty, and Advancement staff on planned and deferred giving opportunities, including bequests, trusts, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, retirement accounts, securities, real estate, mining claims, and life insurance.

The DODPG will manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors, develop new relationships, and serve as a planned giving liaison to colleges, schools, and units across the University. Responsibilities include preparing gift-related agreements and documentation, supporting donor stewardship and solicitation strategies, and assisting with the training of Advancement staff on planned giving. The position will also support the Nevada Legacy Society, Planned Giving Advisory Council, and planned giving marketing and stewardship efforts while ensuring accurate reporting, documentation, and compliance with University Advancement processes.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related professional work experience OR

Master’s/Professional Degree (JD, CPA, CFP) and two (2) years of related professional work experience

Related Experience

• Successful professional experience is required, preferably in higher education fundraising, non-profit or in a related field which requires strong relationship-building and outcome driven components.
• Strongly recommended JD, CPA, Certified Financial Planner or advanced degree in business, finance or related field, with a demonstrated record of success or related.

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees
