Job summary

Sacramento SPCA is seeking a Director of Development to lead all fundraising initiatives and meet giving goals. The role requires strategic planning, donor cultivation, and supervision of the Development team to advance animal welfare programs and shelter services.

The ideal candidate will drive major gifts, grants, annual giving, and capital campaigns while collaborating with senior leadership to align fundraising with the organization’s mission and growth plans.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business Administration or related field.
Five years of fundraising, membership development and special events experience with knowledge in planned giving, membership development, corporate and foundation solicitation, and major gifts.
Capital campaign experience preferred.
CFRE accreditation or nonprofit management degree is a plus.
Minimum of five years' development experience in the not-for-profit sector.

Responsibilities

Direct all agency fundraising activities and meet fundraising goals.
Supervise and coordinate within the department (Events Manager, Events Coordinator, Development Data Coordinator, Development Communication Manager, Development Assistant).
Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors and corporate/foundation supporters.
Identify grant opportunities and supervise proposals to align with organizational goals.
Develop and grow the individual donor base; manage annual giving and major gifts.
Oversee data management in Raiser's Edge and Blackbaud; ensure data quality.
