Job summary

Holocaust Museum Boston is seeking an inaugural Director of Development to lead its growth as the $110M capital campaign advances toward opening in spring 2027.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director will oversee fundraising, membership, and external engagement, while building scalable systems, dashboards, and a moves-management program to sustain long-term philanthropic support.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in progressive development leadership with major gifts, campaigns, donor relations, and events.
  • Proven success securing six-figure+ gifts and building donor pipelines.
  • Experience building development departments, workflows, and policies.
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams; growth/start-up experience preferred.
  • Expertise with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT for moves management, forecasting, reporting, and dashboards; bachelor's degree required; CFRE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with President/CEO to complete $110M capital campaign and cultivate principal gifts.
  • Personally manage portfolio of 75–100 principal and major gift prospects through cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and closing.
  • Build and lead unified development function including fundraising, membership, events, and external engagement.
  • Collaborate with CEO and Board on donor strategy and six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Establish scalable development systems, metrics, dashboards, reporting, and moves management.
