Job summary

Qualifications

• Significant experience in nonprofit fundraising, major gifts, capital campaigns, philanthropy, or a related field.
• Proven track record building donor relationships and securing major philanthropic commitments.
• Experience building or growing a fundraising program.
• Strong relationship-building with donors, executives, foundations, and community leaders.
• Experience working with nonprofit boards and volunteer leaders.
• Strong communication, storytelling, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Strategic planning, organization, and execution skills; integrity, discretion.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to identify growth opportunities.
• Experience with Salesforce or another fundraising CRM.
• Ability to travel locally to meet donors as needed.
• Knowledge of the Indian/South Asian American community is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build Major Donor Relationships: Create a major donor program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors.

• Build a Strong Development Operation: Lead annual fundraising activities, dashboards, budgets, and metrics; manage donor data.

Position Summary

ICC seeks an entrepreneurial Director of Development and Growth to lead fundraising and support the organization’s expansion.

Working with the CEO, Board, and community leaders, this role will grow ICC’s donor base and contributed revenue; build major individual and institutional partnerships; lead a future capital campaign; and strengthen fundraising infrastructure for long-term growth, including expansion into the Tri-Valley and other communities.

The ideal candidate builds strong relationships and connects ICC’s mission and impact with donors, entrepreneurs, corporations, foundations, and philanthropic leaders across Silicon Valley and the Indian-American community.

Key Responsibilities

Build Major Donor Relationships

• Create a major donor program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and transformational donors.
• Build relationships with entrepreneurs, executives, investors, philanthropists, and emerging community leaders.
• Engage Board members, donors, alumni, families, and community leaders to expand ICC’s donor network.
• Develop stock gifts, donor-advised funds, planned giving, legacy gifts, and other strategic philanthropy.

Expand Corporate and Institutional Partnerships

• Build partnerships with corporations whose employees, customers, or philanthropic priorities align with ICC’s mission.
• Develop sponsorships across ICC’s youth, senior, cultural, educational, sports, health and wellness, and community programs.
• Expand support from foundations, corporations, and government grant programs.

Build a Strong Development Operation

• Lead annual fundraising, including the Annual Banquet, and work with the Board Development Committee.
• Establish donor segmentation, pipeline management, fundraising processes, dashboards, and performance metrics.
• Maintain and improve Salesforce or another donor-management platform.
• Set annual fundraising goals, budgets, forecasts, and plans with the Development Committee and CEO.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has

• Experience building or growing a fundraising program.
• Strong relationship-building skills with donors, executives, entrepreneurs, foundations, and community leaders.
• Experience working with nonprofit boards and volunteer leaders.
• Strong communication, storytelling, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Strategic planning, organization, and execution skills.Integrity, discretion, cultural awareness, and sound judgment.
• An entrepreneurial mindset and ability to identify and create growth opportunities.
• Experience with Salesforce or another fundraising CRM.
• Ability to travel locally to meet donors as needed.
