DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS

Rainbow Days is seeking a dynamic, outward-facing, and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Development & Communications to increase major donor support and advance on-going fundraising strategies.

This position will be responsible for providing strategic direction and advancement of all Rainbow Days fundraising strategies which raises $1.1M for the organization annually. This includes building and managing a portfolio of active and prospective donors, creating cultivation and solicitation strategies, and securing a set minimum dollar goal each year.

Rainbow Days has a team-based approach in all that we do, including development. The Director of Development & Communications will work closely with a team, including supervising the Development & Communications Coordinator, as well as consultants who assist with grantwriting, communications, and public relations; and the CEO and Board. Job Description

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Development & Communications is responsible for leading Rainbow Days fundraising strategy and efforts, with a strong focus on growing major gifts, individual giving, corporate relations and event sponsorships. This position will work closely with the CEO, the Board of Directors, volunteers and team members to carry out the fund development plan and achieve targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Grow major gifts program by identification, cultivation and solicitation of existing and new major donors, including both individuals and corporations.

·Maintain and strengthen relationships with current supporters and partners.

·Lead and grow new sponsorship solicitation efforts for our annual fundraising event, the Pot of Gold Luncheon & Auction.

·Lead and grow several annual fundraising drives, including North Texas Giving Day, the holiday campaign and event e-appeals.

·Work closely with the Development & Communications Coordinator to strengthen communications, public relations & social media strategies.

·Work closely with external Development consultants team to direct, assist with and grow our corporate & private foundation grantwriting, and relationships.

·Make public appearances and accept speaking engagements to share information about Rainbow Days with the community.

·Utilize donor database, Bloomerang, to further goals.

·Collaborate and work closely with Board and program staff as needed to achieve development goals and objectives.

·Oversee content creation that supports fundraising activities.

·Maintain gift recognition programs.

·Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

·Perform other related duties as requested.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

·Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in professional fundraising.

·Have established relationships within the Dallas philanthropic sector.

·CFRE preferred, but not required.

·Extroverted, outwardly focused and eager individual who is excited to drive growth.

·Ideal strengths include WOO, Communications and Developer

·Be a self-starter and goal-driven individual to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.

·Demonstrated knowledge and experience in successful fundraising techniques, particularly with major gift development.

·Dynamic public speaking ability.

·Excellent written communication skills.

·Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

·Ability to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.

·Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.

·Be flexible and have the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.

EVALUATED BY:CEO

HOURS:Full Time (40 hours per week); Hybrid (in office or at donor visits a minimum of 3 days per week and ability to work remotely 1-2 days per week)

LOCAL TRAVEL: Local travel limited to the Dallas area, as needed for various events or meetings. This position will be reimbursed for his/her local travel at the approved state rate. Approved out-of-town travel for RDI purposes will be fully reimbursed.

OUT- OF-TOWN TRAVEL:0-5%

SALARY RANGE: $90K - $110K

BENEFITS: Health, dental, vision and life insurance package available after 60-days of employment (employer pays 75% of employee benefits). Generous Paid Holidays and PTO benefits after 90 days of employment. Cell phone stipend. 403B retirement plan.
