Job summary

Dear Jack Foundation is seeking a Director of Development to lead fundraising and marketing from a remote, U.S.-based location. This senior role reports to the Executive Director and drives revenue growth, donor engagement, and brand visibility across channels.

You will supervise development and marketing staff, manage contractors and volunteers, oversee events, and expand fundraising channels while ensuring data privacy and compliance in all activities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of nonprofit development experience.
• Proven success leading fundraising campaigns of $1M+.
• Willingness to travel (approx. 3 weeks/year).
• Strong background in events and donor relations.
• Supervisory experience of staff and volunteers.
• Experience overseeing both fundraising and marketing functions.
• CRM data management and donor analytics knowledge.
• Understanding of privacy laws and fundraising compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and drive all fundraising efforts, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, and events.
• Develop and execute strategies to meet and exceed annual revenue goals.
• Build and manage a strong donor pipeline, including cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and ongoing prospecting.
• Ensure high standards of data cleanliness, integrity, and reporting within the CRM.
• Oversee donor analytics and performance tracking to inform strategy.
• Lead planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, including those exceeding $1M in revenue.
• Identify and develop new revenue opportunities and growth strategies, with emphasis on diversifying fundraising channels.
• Oversee all marketing and communications, including digital, email, social media, and storytelling.
• Ensure consistent brand voice and alignment between marketing efforts and fundraising outcomes.
• Provide strategic direction and oversight to marketing staff and external partners.
• Lead strategy and execution for fundraising events.
• Oversee sponsorship development, logistics, and donor experience.
• Ensure events are mission-driven, well-executed, and financially successful.

The Dear Jack Foundation provides impactful programs benefiting adolescents and young adults (AYA) diagnosed with cancer and their families to improve their quality of life from treatment to survivorship. Our vision is to be a national leader in adolescent and young adult cancer programming by giving patients, survivors, and their caregivers a community and support rooted in mental and physical wellness-based tools and resources from diagnosis through survivorship.

Position Overview

The Director of Development is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all fundraising and marketing efforts. This individual will lead strategy, execution, and growth across revenue generation and brand visibility.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will be instrumental in driving revenue, expanding audience reach, and strengthening long-term sustainability.

Dear Jack Foundation is operating under an aggressive strategic plan with ambitious growth goals, including a focus on diversifying fundraising channels. The Director of Development will play a central role in executing this vision and building scalable, sustainable revenue streams.

The position includes direct supervision of development and marketing staff, including the Marketing & Engagement Manager, as well as oversight of contractors, vendors, and volunteers supporting these functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Leadership

• Oversee and drive all fundraising efforts, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, and events
