The Director of Development is responsible for creating a climateconducive for giving by developing and securing gifts (outright andpledged) of $25,000+ for assigned schools and colleges, specialprograms and projects, new initiatives, and campaigns. Thisincludes identifying prospects to determine their potential asdonors through strategic cultivation and well-tried solicitationsin the tri-state area and other related regions as assigned.Closing and stewarding gifts for assigned prospects is alsocritical to the role. The Director of Development may also serve asUniversity Advancement/Development staff liaison to assignedvolunteer groups, providing to them with high-quality fundraisingcounsel, guidance, and assistance.
Bachelor's degree plus at least 3-5 years of experience inadvancement or a related field, preferably in higher education. Must be passionate about building relationships with donors, alumni, parents, and friends. The successful applicant will have a track record that demonstrates solid fundraising results and demonstrated success in soliciting and closing major gifts, working closely with a dean or senior leader of an organization, as well asexperience working with groups comprising prominent corporate and community volunteers and alumni.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable auto for travelrelated to position accountabilities. The position requires traveland presence as needed for donor meetings and other events, whichmay occur outside of standard business hours. Examples include, butare not limited to, presence at basketball games and otherUniversity events as appropriate.
