Job summary

CFHH is seeking a Director of Development to lead a comprehensive fundraising, marketing, and communications plan. The role reports to the Executive Director and oversees gifts, events, campaigns, and grant reporting to support programs for the homeless and hungry in NW Harris County.

The candidate will drive donor cultivation, manage relationships, and ensure brand consistency across channels, including digital media, events, and annual reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising or development within nonprofit.
  • Proven donor relationship development and gifts securing.
  • Grant writing experience and campaign planning skills.
  • Strong written communication and content creation abilities.

Job Summary: The Director of Development is responsible for building and leading a comprehensive marketing, development, and fundraising plan, digital media strategy, and managing the day-to-day marketing, communication, and fundraising needs of CFHH. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position involves managing individual and corporate gifts, special events, annual campaigns, and contributes to grant writing and reporting. As a member of the CFHH leadership team, this position will focus on raising funds and increasing brand awareness for programs that make a difference in the lives of the homeless and the hungry in NW Harris County.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan, including cultivating individual, corporate, and foundation donors, as well as exploring new avenues for fundraising opportunities.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and community organizations to secure gifts, sponsorships, and grants.
  • Manage and steward a portfolio of existing donors, ensuring timely donor recognition and engagement; database management; and donor research.
  • Research new fundraising revenue sources including grant opportunities.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, managing event logistics.
  • Commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes, creating a results-oriented fundraising and communications culture.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate marketing strategies across CFHH’s multiple audiences.
  • Oversees the CFHH brand in all communications, including website, social media, electronic and print communications, events, and the annual report to ensure branding continuity and message consistency.
  • Lead CFHH’s marketing strategy to drive engagement.
  • Produce content that establishes CFHH as a thought leader and extends its reach by driving awareness of our mission.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for CFHH and actively engage, cultivate, and manage media relationships.

This role offers a hybrid schedule with Monday - Thursday in the office, 9:00am until 2:30pm, with home office hours for the remainder of the day, and a work from home schedule on Fridays. It is a full-time, salaried position. Flexibility is key; schedules may shift based on organization’s needs. Weekend and evening availability is occasionally needed for events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related role, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully securing gifts and developing sustainable donor relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire a wide range of supporters.
  • Proven experience in creating and executing successful fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and develop creative content which targets a variety of audiences. Skilled in writing succinctly with excellent grammar, spelling and proof-reading.
  • Grant writing experience.
  • Able to work independently with strong time management skills; managing multiple conflicting and reporting deadlines.
  • Proficient in working with marketing and design software and donor database software.
  • Commitment to professional development, striving to maintain best practices in digital marketing and development management.
