Job summary

TCU Wesley seeks a Director of Development to narrate our story and inspire generosity among a diverse donor base, including local church, alumni, and parent supporters. You will craft campaigns, grant proposals, and events, building the case for a future capital campaign.

The role offers minimal hours with flexible scheduling, remote or in-person work, and a focus on donor stewardship in a faith-based nonprofit context.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in development/advancement.
  • Strong nonprofit and donor centric writing samples: appeals, impact stories, and grant proposals.
  • Experience with software tools including email marketing software, CRMs, and Canva.
  • Ability to write with a warm, faith-informed voice for diverse donors.
  • Comfort managing your own schedule and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content and campaigns for donor outreach and annual campaigns.
  • Write grant applications and reports for funded grants.
  • Coordinate donor communications, newsletters, and email strategy.
  • Support capital campaign communications including landing pages and materials.
  • Plan and support donor events and related communications.

Job description

TCU Wesley is searching for a Director of Development who narrates our story and inspires generosity in a diverse donor base that includes local church, parent, and alumni support.As Director of Development, you will also get to know the ministry and students of TCU Wesley, and you will develop and distribute content. This involves producing writing and campaign materials, grant applications, as well as creating and holding events that invite people, churches, and foundations into giving. You’ll help build the case for support behind a future capital campaign. This role is perfect for someone with experience in nonprofits, fundraising, or donor stewardship and someone who is looking for minimal hours and flexible scheduling. Additionally, this job might be suited to someone with interest in fundraising/marketing who is looking to build a portfolio of work.

Reports to: Executive Director
Collaborates with: Board of Directors & Capital Campaign Task Force
Hours: On average 10 per week, remote or in-person
Pay: $20,000-$30,000 annually
Benefits: This job does not have health benefits, but you will have total flexibility with your schedule to set your own hours outside of shared meetings, on-site visits, and fundraising events.
  • Monthly impact emails and bi-monthly newsletters
  • Email strategy and donor communications copy for annual campaigns, including North Texas Giving Day, year-end giving, and recurring-giving while incorporating segmented audiences
  • Direct mail campaign copy and coordination with designers and printers
  • Automated donor journeys / follow up to move individuals through a generosity pathway
  • Grant research, prospecting, and writing, plus reporting for funded grants
  • Donation platform support with compelling, high-conversion copy for online giving
  • Donor event support: invitations, run-of-show, follow-up, and thank-you communication
  • Capital campaign communications including landing pages/web-design, presentation material (digital/print)
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in development/advancement
  • Strong nonprofit and donor centric writing samples: appeals, impact stories, and grant proposals
  • Experience and proficiency with software & technology including, but not limited to:
    • Email marketing software
    • CRMs, or equivalent donor databases
    • Canva
  • Ability to write and interact in a warm, faith-informed voice with donors of diverse backgrounds
  • Comfort managing your own schedule and deadlines (organizational skills, coordinating multiple tasks concurrently)

Preferred: higher-ed, campus ministry, or faith-based nonprofit experience.
