HCA Healthcare is seeking a Director of Development to lead transaction development for physician practice partnerships and acquisitions. The role reports to the VP/AVP of Development and oversees due diligence, contract administration, and strategic planning for network growth.

The position requires strong finance, compliance, and leadership skills, with a focus on coordinating complex transactions, budgeting, and regulatory adherence across departments.

Qualifications

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Director of Development supports the implementation of the strategic goals and objectives for development and directs the growth and expansion of transaction development for physician practice partnerships and acquisitions within smaller more standard transactions while assisting the VP and AVP of Development in midsize to large complicated transactions. The Director of Development is responsible for project management for the assigned team and reports the progress to the team leader, VP and AVP Development and directs the processes of practice acquisitions, practice analysis and valuation, and strategic planning for network expansion and growth, divestitures, physician mergers, employment and recruiting contracting process and coordinates the entire approval processes with all key personnel for final signature approvals.

Job Summary And Qualifications
  • Directs the Development activities in accordance with the policy and procedures of the company and under the direction of the VP and AVP of Development.
  • Provides consultation to the local PSG Managers for due diligence and transition activities associated with the transactions.
  • Provides coordination for smaller acquisitions, divestitures, and settlement disputes, and assist the VP and AVP with medium sized to large complicated transactions.
  • Provides consultation to local PSG team members directly.
  • Administers the physician contract administration program for all the physician employment contracts.
  • Administers the valuation clearinghouse program for all the physician agreements by PSG and hospitals.
  • Maintains, databases, logs, fair market value reports and exceptions to the guidelines in reference to all physician employment contracts.
  • Coordinates the due diligence process of all the department’s activities.
  • Develops department goals and objectives and establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operations.
  • Assists in development and coordination of the operating budget and ensures that the department operates within the budget.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of transaction reports.
  • Interpreting data concerning financial trends and economic and business forecast.
  • Preparing documents for compliance with regulations.
  • Monitoring and reporting historical trends related to acquisitions, divestitures, and physician employment.
  • Creating and managing databases for the transactions of the team.
  • Communicates with and reports to clients and hospital CEO level management about provider/practice engagement process on a regular basis.
  • Communicates with management and hospital services to determine items requiring coordination and resolution by operations, legal counsel and valuation consultants.
  • Coordinates the receipt, processing and completion of all items required for the engagement process as defined in department documents.
  • Coordinates and communicates the corporate regulatory / legal framework and ensures that all acquisitions and divestitures meet the standards provided.
  • Identifies and evaluate s trends in healthcare, local conditions, economic conditions and competitive institutions and develops strategies to respond to these trends.
  • Reviews legislation affecting the physician services partnership development, competition and planning.
  • Works with executive, medical and hospital staff to explain and get commitment to strategic goals.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Participates in Divisional, hospital / medical staff meetings as required. Attends and serves on professional civic service organizations as a representative of the company.
  • Monitors compliance to the guidelines and affiliation agreements as they relate to physician practice / hospital partnerships.
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in finance, practice operations, and/ or contract management.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, systems and objectives.
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements for physician practice operations.
  • Skill in planning, organizing and supervising.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with physicians, administrative staff, internal customers and external agencies.
  • Skill in developing reports.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
  • Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to complete goals through project / team management.
  • Ability to identify and implement practice acquisitions in new or expanding markets.
  • Ability to identify and implement practice divestitures.
