Job summary

Brigit is seeking a Director of Data Science to lead a growing team focused on modeling critical business problems in credit risk and payments. You will mentor data scientists, drive AI-assisted development, and partner with product, engineering, and operations to plan and execute a data-driven roadmap.

The role emphasizes building a high-impact culture, delivering measurable business outcomes, and shaping the modeling infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Data Science management with a team of >3
• 5+ years of modeling/data science experience overall
• 2+ years of experience at a consumer product company
• Deep technical expertise in SQL and Python, with experience in analytics and ML tools (dbt, Airflow, Spark, MLflow)
• Experience applying predictive modeling to credit risk, churn prediction, loss and revenue forecasting is beneficial
• Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex analysis into actionable insights
• Passion for developing talent and building a data-driven culture rooted in accountability and business outcomes
• Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex or similar

Responsibilities

• Managing and growing a team of data scientists focused on modeling key business problems
• Mentoring team to build quantitative models in Python
• Evangelizing the data science team’s capabilities and integrating with product, engineering and operations
• Running quarterly planning with business stakeholders to guide the team's direction
• Leading adoption of AI-assisted development and agentic workflows with proper review, privacy, and quality standards
• Collaborating with Modeling Engineer to optimize infrastructure for model R&D and deployment
