Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead a data protection and recovery engineering function. You will drive strategy, design, and delivery of enterprise-scale data solutions supporting backup, recovery, resiliency, and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee cross‑functional teams, establish architectural standards, and mentor engineers to deliver scalable data pipelines and services across multiple platforms while ensuring security and governance requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of applied software engineering experience designing and delivering complex technology solutions.
• Strong hands‑on software engineering background with Java, Python, and/or other modern languages.
• Experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of data lineage, quality, completeness, governance, metadata management, and data lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of large-scale data engineering solutions.
• Drive data lineage, quality, governance, and lifecycle management initiatives across platforms.
• Partner with engineering, product, architecture, and operations to solve complex data challenges.
• Establish strategy, architecture direction, and engineering standards for data engineering.
• Lead teams building scalable data pipelines, datasets, data services, and reporting capabilities.
• Deliver technical solutions usable across multiple businesses and domains.
• Promote engineering excellence through modern practices, automation, and resiliency.
• Influence senior leaders while balancing strategic and execution priorities.
• Ensure solutions meet security, risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Advise on AI-enabled engineering practices to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Develop and mentor engineering talent, fostering innovation and accountability.
