Graphic Packaging International seeks a Director to lead the Data Platform & AI Engineering function. You will own the governance-heavy data lakehouse, AI control plane, and scaling infrastructure across manufacturing, supply chain, and finance.

The role requires translating data-first strategy into scalable platforms while managing internal and contracted resources. You will collaborate with AI Governance, Data Governance, and enterprise teams to ensure cost discipline, security, and policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, data engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive data engineering/architecture experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML infrastructure and governance.
• Experience distinguishing data eng from AI eng disciplines and team design.
• Experience managing blended teams of employees and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the technical architecture for the governed data platform.
• Lead AI control plane: models, prompts, agents, policies, guardrails, and observability.
• Oversee data governance, metadata, lineage, and data contracts across platforms.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity on secure, scalable AI capabilities.
• Hire, lead, and develop a blended team of engineers and contractors.
• Collaborate with AI Governance and Data Governance leads to align platform with enterprise risk.
