Star Academy seeks a Director of Curriculum & Instruction to lead instructional programming and operations in a 223-day cycle. You will oversee curriculum development, supervise faculty, coach staff, and coordinate schedules to ensure an exceptional educational program for students.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Head of School, ongoing professional learning, and alignment with accreditation processes to promote continuous improvement and student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• California Education Specialist Credential required; Administrative Credential preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Five+ years of educational leadership experience, preferably in Special Education.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional leadership and coaching to multidisciplinary faculty.

Director of Curriculum & Instruction Full-Time

223-Day Leadership Position

Position Overview

The Director of Curriculum & Instruction provides instructional and operational leadership in partnership with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School. The Director oversees curriculum development, faculty supervision, coaching, evaluation, scheduling, professional learning, and instructional quality across the school while helping ensure an exceptional educational program for students.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide instructional leadership and coaching to multidisciplinary faculty, including teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, multisensory language specialists, and other instructional staff.
• Observe classrooms, provide meaningful feedback, mentor faculty, and conduct formal performance evaluations.
• Lead the ongoing development, alignment, and implementation of an integrated, evidence-based curriculum that supports diverse learners.
• Collaborate with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School on recruitment, hiring, onboarding, mentorship, and retention of exceptional faculty.
• Create and coordinate schoolwide master schedules, student schedules, staffing assignments, and specialist services.
• Plan and facilitate staff meetings, professional development, and instructional initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.
• Partner with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School to lead the WASC accreditation process
• Develop, maintain, and refine instructional policies, procedures, and systems that promote consistency and continuous improvement.
• Support faculty with instructional planning, problem-solving, and implementation of best practices.
• Facilitate and support team meetings as requested by the Head of School.
• Ensure appropriate staffing coverage during faculty absences and leaves.
• Provide administrative leadership and decision-making.
• Represent Star Academy professionally with families, school districts, and community partners while fostering positive relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.
• California Education Specialist Credential required; Administrative Credential preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible educational leadership experience, preferably in Special Education.
• Demonstrated success supervising, coaching, and evaluating multidisciplinary staff.
• Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, multisensory education, curriculum development, assessment, and instructional best practices.
• Experience with IEP development and special education compliance.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
