A nonprofit organization is seeking a Director of Curriculum to develop K–12 resources on climate change and environmental justice. The role involves designing educational materials, engaging with teachers, and fostering partnerships to enhance environmental literacy across California. We are looking for a Director of Curriculum who will be responsible for a new program focused on developing standards-based, K–12 curricular resources, focused on climate change and environmental justice issues in California. We work collaboratively with schools, environmental education providers, teachers, parents, and students to promote a thriving planet for future generations.
Our efforts include infusing environmental themes into core subjects and empowering teachers to use the environment as a context for learning. Who You Are
You have a strong background in curriculum development and publishing processes, including experience with authoring platforms such as Learning Tapestry, Curriki, or others. You are passionate about culturally relevant, meaningful, and equitable expansion of environmental literacy for all California students.
What You'll Do
Initially, you will design, create, test, and publish high-quality curricular resources for teachers and students. You will develop teacher networks to disseminate, pilot, and evaluate these resources across diverse community and school settings. Once available, the resources will be introduced through webinars, workshops (online and face-to-face), and presentations.
Long-term, your goal is for every child in California to have an in-depth experience exploring local environmental issues related to climate change and environmental justice. You will lead the program, developing partnerships and networks to support the implementation of these resources statewide.
