Job summary

Brown University’s Department of Africana Studies / Rites and Reason Theatre seeks a Director of Creative and Artistic Administration to lead artistic planning, production administration, and partnerships for a dynamic program of theatre, new work development, and community engagement.

The role collaborates closely with the Department Chair and Academic Department Manager to schedule events, manage budgets, recruit artists, and shepherd projects from concept through opening night while expanding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of related experience; Master’s preferred.
• Substantive professional experience in theatrical production, new play or devised work development, or performing arts programming.
• Demonstrated experience with new work development and providing dramaturgical/creative feedback.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and administration of the Theatre's annual season (productions, readings, world premieres, and events).
• Identify, recruit, and collaborate with artists across the African Diaspora.
• Collaborate with the Academic Department Manager on planning/scheduling and with budget planning.
• Build audiences and institutional partnerships to extend the reach of the work.
