Job summary

Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon seeks a Director of Theatre to teach, direct, and lead the theatre program within the Department of Theatre & Dance. The role oversees the university’s theatre season, including mainstage productions and a studio project, while guiding curriculum and advising Theatre students.

Qualifications

• MFA in Directing or DFA with practical emphasis; PhD/MFA combination encouraged.
• Previous experience with college or university teaching.
• Two or more years full-time college or university teaching.
• Two or more years serving as artistic director, managing producer, or production manager of a professional theatre.

Responsibilities

• Production: Full responsibility for the university’s theatre season, producing two mainstage shows (including collaboration with Department of Music on production of musicals), one studio project a year.
• Teaching: Teaching in Acting (fundamentals and advanced), Directing, and Theatre History and Dramatic Literature, with interdisciplinary perspectives and global/cultural themes.
• Service: Department, school, college, and university service, academic advising.
• Recruitment and supervision of professional guest artists and adjunct faculty.
• Oversee curriculum in Theatre, Applied Theatre, and Arts Administration; collaborate with Music for Musical Theatre minor.
