Job Summary
The Director of Continuous Improvement will lead and scale enterprise-wide initiatives across our manufacturing operations to drive operational excellence, eliminate waste, and support sustainable growth. This strategic role will work cross-functionally to design and implement process improvements, build a culture of continuous improvement, and support expansion efforts both domestically and internationally.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the implementation of the enterprise continuous improvement strategy across all manufacturing locations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in Lean Six Sigma, guiding teams through DMAIC, value stream mapping, 5S, root cause analysis, and other tools.
- Partner with leadership, operations, engineering, and quality teams to identify opportunities for performance improvement and cost reduction.
- Conduct assessments, lead Kaizen events, and facilitate cross-functional workshops.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting dashboards to track CI project outcomes and ROI.
- Coach and mentor plant-level CI leads and project managers to strengthen local capabilities.
- Support integration of new acquisitions or international sites into CI practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by leading training programs and engagement initiatives.
- Work closely with the executive team to align CI goals with overall business strategy.
Competencies
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt or Master Black Belt preferred)
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills across diverse teams and locations
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- High analytical and problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactical plans
- Proficient in CI tools, project management software, and data visualization platforms
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Industrial Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing environments
- At least 5 years in a dedicated continuous improvement leadership role
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required; Master Black Belt is a plus
- Experience in the energy, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing sectors strongly preferred
- Multi-site or global experience is a plus
