A premier New England custom home builder is seeking a Director of Construction to join their leadership team. This individual will oversee multiple Project Managers, drive operational excellence across active projects, and play a key role in developing both the team and the broader business.

Headquartered in Central Massachusetts with an additional presence on Nantucket, this premier luxury residential builder serves clients throughout Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Nantucket, and select coastal and metropolitan markets across the United States. Founded in 1980 as a custom millwork shop, the company has evolved into one of New England's most respected high end residential firms and is now led by second generation family leadership. They specialize in ground up custom homes, large scale renovations, historic restorations, and complex estate properties. Their fully integrated model includes in house architectural millwork, cabinetry, and ongoing home management services, ensuring seamless collaboration from preconstruction through final completion. Description

The Director of Construction - Luxury Residential will be responsible for:

  • Lead and mentor internal project teams while managing relationships with outside contractors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing construction team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Drive the development of project scopes, cost models, procurement processes, and contract negotiations to ensure competitive and transparent bidding.
  • Establish standardized documentation and reporting frameworks for proposals, bids, contracts, site updates, and budget tracking.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor and contractor partnerships to ensure timely, cost-effective project completion.
  • Guarantee adherence to regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety protocols at every stage of construction.
Profile

The Director of Construction - Luxury Residential should have:

  • 15+ years of experience in the custom luxury residential sector
  • Extensive experience delivering high end residential projects valued at 10M+
  • Proven track record managing and mentoring teams of five or more professionals
  • Demonstrated success leading projects from initial concept through final completion
  • Deep technical expertise in structural systems, building materials, construction methodologies, and regulatory codes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in modern project management platforms and technology, including Procore, MS Project, and similar tools, to enhance efficiency and streamline workflows
  • Consistent ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strict adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Exceptional leadership and team building skills, with the ability to effectively engage both field teams and executive stakeholders
  • Able to travel regularly to active job sites as needed
  • Located within a reasonable daily commute to Holden, MA
